The Commandant, Philippine Marine Corps, Maj Gen Arturo G Rojas PN(M), participated in the Land Forces Summit (LFS) to strengthen ties and boost maritime defense with the Japan Ground Self Defense Force, US Army, and Australian Army from December 12 to 15 in Tokyo, Japan. Present in the multilateral talks are Commanding General of Philippine Army LtGen. Roy M Galido PA, Chief of Staff, Japan Ground Self Defense Force Gen. Morishita Yasunori, US Army Pacific Chief Gen. Charles Flynn, US Marine Corps Forces Commander Gen. William Jurney, and Chief of the Australian Army LtGen. Simon Andrew Stuart. They are committed to strengthen cooperation and fostering regional security in recognition of the strategic environment and shaping a more secure and prosperous future for the region.
The presence of the Philippines exemplified dedication to an enduring partnership and collective security in the Indo-Pacific. The Philippine Marine Corps and the Philippine Army also agreed to join the next year’s LFS and as an observer in the JPN-US-AUS Joint Command Post Exercise called YAMA SAKURA.
